I was with a group of veterans of the US Navy, by husband being on of them. We were all in Baton Rouge for the reunion of their ship. On the visit to the USS Kidd, the walkway to the ship was lined with American flags just for the veterans. They were welcomed aboard with the ringing of the bell,... More

Really interesting and well thought out trip round this WW2 vet. I was amazed that 300 sailors lived on such a small ship. More

It's amazing to see what our real-life sailors do, the surroundings they live in and work in. Makes you appreciate them that much more. Those who gave their lives for our freedom, than you. More

We was greeted by someone who actually served time on the destroyer, so that was a really neat experience. It was nice to be able to tour the entire ship with a map and numbers. Just be sure to watch your head and be sure to visit the museum! Lots of neat items! More

The USS Kidd is permantly moored in the Mississippi River right in downtown Baton Rouge. It is a self guided tour that takes you all over the ship! Highly recommed visiting as soon as it opens to avoid the suffocating heat. Also because the ship has some very narrow passages/areas, it makes visiting when there are crowds a suffocating experience!... More

Ship tour was ok, but you have to go around on your own. Ship was small and they provided a map, but it was confusing at times to figured out what each point meant. Museum was great with many ship models. More

It gives a sobering insight to life in the Navy during WWII. Quarters are small and cramped; passageways are narrow; climbs up and down the stairs are sttep; and life on board a ship must have been quite austere. Everything about it reminds you that men lived on board for awfully long periods of time, and must have been under... More

We visited the USS Kidd and the museum recently. There so much to see here! The actual destroyer is fascinating. They have a section on the bottom deck which displays memorabilia from a large number of destroyers. The kids loved playing with the guns and climbing up and down the different parts of the ship. The museum was amazing. There... More
