We live in Hays and visit the Sternberg at least every year. The museum has different focused displays that "visit" for weeks at a time. My sons and I love studying local animals, dinosaurs, and underwater sea life. The museum has something new to offer each time we visit as well as our old favorites.

As adults, we had a really good time visiting the museum. The museum isn't huge, but it takes a while to go through all the exhibits! Plan to spend the whole morning or afternoon. It's also really cheap for a museum of such status. Sternberg is one of the most famous names in paleontology, and the most photographed fossil of... More

We have four kids 6 years old and under. They all had a great time here, so much so that we bought a membership so we can come back all year long. My kid's favorite part is the moving T-rex and digging for fossils in the sand box. They also have a great education room on the 3rd floor... they... More

Always fun and very educational for all ages. Would recommend to anyone who visits Hays. Can see all in an hour or so or spend 1/2 a day if you want.

It's not huge, but it has it's charm and fun things for the kids to do and see. They also have many special events thru the year. My kids like going and it's close so handy for us to go.

Sternberg is always having touring exhibits. But regardless of what they are hosting, their other exhibits are a great excuse for a break as you pass by on I70 or a fun daytrip. They has Sue the T-Rex when I was there.

We had seen the museum from the hiway but never stopped in on our way to other places, today we made the stop and glad we did. It's a very nice place and the man at the information desk was very nice and gave us some information about the exhibits and a map of the museum and some history about... More

The amount of marine fossils that the Sternberg has is simply amazing. Definitely worth stopping in for!

This is a first class museum with dinosaurs and all sorts of things from that era. Your kids will love it, too! Very well designed. Definitely worth the price and the stop on the Interstate.

I was wary about taking my 2 1/2 year old here because, well, it's a museum. It turned out to be a great experience! There was plenty for the adults to see, but the entertainment for my son was great. There is a sand pit to dig for fossils and the discovery room with tons of hands on play. After... More
