A couple years back I called this the worst zoo in the country. I was wrong that designation belongs to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in CO Springs. Since my last visit they have updated the Australia exhibit, Monkey exhibit, Sea Lions, and added a traveling ice age exhibit. As much as the Australia exhibit cost to revamp I'm amazed at...

Let's be honest here: this is no Omaha Zoo. But for a zoo in a small-city, especially for one that has one of the world's biggest and best zoos just a couple of hours away, the Blank Park Zoo is quite respectable, and they are working on some new exhibits that will make the zoo even more fun to visit....

Good: It's in Des Moines, a couple new or upgraded items, you can often find coupons through out the year,
Bad: Needs more animals, food is way overpriced,
Overall: Some things were closed or run down and other items were new or recently refurbished. It's a small zoo so not a lot to see but sometimes it's a good thing...

Kinda boring... they do have some interesting things but it seems like the animals are never available or sleeping or feeding and you cant see them... Definitely drive to Omaha Zoo instead.. SO WORTH THE 2 HR DRIVE!! And its cheap admission.

Need a renovation? That is what we are doing. Last year Blank Park Zoo completed $6.5 million dollars in new exhibits/renovations (sea lion pool, Australia Adventure, entrance, Japanese macaque exhibit, gibbon holding, class room and etc). We currently are constructing a $4 million rhino/eland exhibit. We also enjoy going over to Omaha's Zoo. If you purchase a Blank Park Zoo...

Very small. Too few animals. Exhibits aren't that informative. The organization of the park doesn't follow a logical course. My kids prefer the playground equipment in the park to the actual exhibits. Very expensive for what you get.

Took our grandkids there three times. The giraffes are so beautiful and you get to hand feed them
