This is a unique venue filled with 20th century sculpture. Nomade (pictured) moved to Des Moines from Barcelona. Deb Butterfield's horses--there are two--are among her best.

After you get through the confusion of Fleur/MLK/Locust/Grand Avenue in the Western Gateway - the sculpture park is a nice little oasis in town. Not pretentious but very clean and very interesting and FREE.

I question the true artistic quality of some of the pieces, but I am glad the park is here nonetheless. Let's hope the sculpture park grows and more intricate works are added.

There are some really interesting sculptures here, and it's a nice place that you can get away from the tall buildings of downtown, without even leaving the downtown area.
