I live locally and have been here several times. It is a small zoo and the quality and quantity is reflected in the price. If you want a huge zoo take a trip to Chicago and pay $20-30 a ticket to get in and another $20 for parking, that isn't what Washington park is. It's a local place that you...

I liked the gift shop here. There were items offered that I've never seen in other zoos. My children had alot of fun. I think because its location is so close to the park makes it a nice visit. You can get the breeze from the lake which gives a "vacation experience."

Washington Park Zoo is a great place to take young children, it is small and very compact, but still lots of different things to look at. It will be a full day if you want it to be, but not overwhelming. Nice little gift shop too. Highly recommended way to spend an afternoon!

If you have young children they will enjoy, as an adult , not as much. If your in Michigan City and your not a gambler or your tired of shopping, you might want to give it a try. If nothing else it will be relaxing and the kids can run off some energy.

Right acroos from public beach. Make a day of seeing the animals and then go swimming in the afternoon. Bring a picnic lunch.

The cages are too small, the zoo seems unkempt, and last time I was there, the parrots were all pulling out their feathers. I would not go back!

While this zoo cannot compare to Brookfield, Lincoln Park or other big city zoos, it has a lot to offer visitors at a very reasonable price. I think it was $5.50 per person with children under 2 free (our daughter is 11 months). The cages are very small, which can be a little sad to see, but it does put...

Definitely the worst zoo I've ever been to. Felt terrible for all the animals. Small enclosures, dirty, just overall sad.
