While I rated this as average, that's not a bad thing. There are several of these types of not for profit train operations around the state and the country. They do a good job here. A unique aspect is the trip to Metamora, an old canal town with a working grist mill among other historic sites and activities. The canal... More

my daughter bought tickets for my birthday present to ride the train to Metamora, Indiana from Connersville, indiana. Enjoyed the trip immensely. The volunteers who run the train are very knowledgable about the towns we pass and about the history of the Canal that was built just before the railroads were built. The little town of Metamora did a wonderful... More

We have taken this trip many times before and always enjoy it. It had been several years since our last ride, so we decided it was time again. We took a group of 9 with us, one was handicap. The ride to Metamora was enjoyable, we saw wildlife and the historical spots along the way. Christmas in Metamora is like... More

We had 6 adults and 2 kids for the Polar Express train in December. We have ridden other Polar Express trains and this trip was on-par with our other experiences. Our kids loved it and their "North Pole" at the turn-around point was well decorated. We will most likely return again this year too. Parking and the staging area can... More

We did the daytime "Wild West Train" from Connersville to Metamora. The ride itself is about 18 miles, taking around an hour and 15 minutes more or less each way on a vintage unairconditioned train car. The heat was not bad when the train starts moving (but I wouldn't have wanted to take the trip in last weeks 100 degree... More

The thing that impressed me most about the operation was the love they put in to their equipment. After a talk with the engineer of the Ex-Milwaukee Road SD10 they have I relies just how much these guys love what they do, and it shows. The crew is very friendly and is very knowledgeable about the area the line passes... More

We did the Wild West Twilight train to dinner for my daughters Bachlorette party. There was a pretty bad storm the night we went so my review may be a bit skewed. There didn't seem to be a "theme" to the night. As advertised we expected more of a show. The food at the Inn was ok, not anything special.... More

I've been to Whitewater Valley RR only once, last summer, for the "Day Out with Thomas Event." The event itself was fine. My only complaint is that the Thomas ride was not very "scenic"--kind of run down area--and very short.

We bought tickets online ($18/person) for the Day Out With Thomas event and set out early, to be there as soon as they opened. Because of this, we got a great parking space on the street and didn't have to pay $5 for lot parking or wait for a shuttle bus. Even though the earliest tickets available online were for... More
