Modeled after the original Shakespeare Theatre, there isn't a bad seat in the house. They have performed some excellent Shakespeare plays and plays from other countries.

I have been to dozens of performances at Chicago Shakespeare and have yet to be disappointed. It is an excellent venue on Navy Pier and fairly easy to get to by cab or car. If you are visiting Chicago and love live theater, it is a must see! There are plenty of restaurants in all price ranges on Navy Pier...

We saw Shakespeare's Henry VIII and it was beautifully acted with simple but elegant staging. The theatre is intimate and is designed to mimic the inside of the old Globe theatre in London. This is a first class Shakespeare experience.
Got some cheap tickets to their modern rendition of Othello. It was amazing. High energy, funny, and well performed, it put Shakespeare into a new perspective. Chapeau!
As Shakespeare subscribers we are never disappointed. Performances of all Shakespearian works are done skillfully and beautifully. And, so easy to access the theater: discount on parking; parking right near the door to the theater.Tickets need changing? No problem; just ask.

So its not Stratford on Avon. The Shakespeare Theater is close to perfect. Every seat has a wonderful view. The actors are some of the best in Chicago. Barbara Gaines is a treasure.
Pluses: dynamic, amusing, hip-hop take on "Othello" by exciting group of performers. Would have loved to buy CD to accompany this show to share with interested teens.
Minuses: really, really difficult to find the theatre. I took a taxi which dropped me off near the entrance but due to poor signage, I ended up lapping the Pier once before finally...

Facility:
I’m unsure if the theater has multiple stages, but the one for this specific play was on the 4th floor of the building and was accessible by stairs and elevator. We got there...

Our family of 4 teenagers (and one friend) saw Othello the Remix last week. Although I do not listen to rap music (ever), I wanted to take our kids to see something they might love. And even though they are not big rap music fans, they absolutely loved the show. It's definitely mature material, but certainly fine for teens. My...
