I love my job and my city and I'm all about showing it off to you. I'm an improviser and comedian, so expect some really hilarious (to me anyway?) impressions. We have a lot of fun on tours, you know, while we're learning stuff. During the winter months I run the Pedway Tour and in April 2013 I will add The Disaster! Tour and the Chicago Rules tour - learn how to use the city of Chicago. I am also available for private tours and group tours! Let's do this. « less

We recently took the Pedway History Walking Tour with Margaret and it was fantastic. Although embarrassed to admit it, we have been living in the suburbs of Chicago for over 35 years and never knew until recently that the Pedway even existed. A cousin visiting from Germany was just the excuse we needed to investigate our own city. When we... More

Margaret was a fun, well-informed guide. We met her for a private tour and specified the red light district of Chicago's past. Lots of laughs and interesting tidbits. I have lived in Chicago twice but didn't know the half of it. Margaret, you did good. I can well understand why you are in such demand . We will be back... More

At the end of the Pedway Tour, you may well think that it lasted much less time than you thought it would, until you check the time and find that you've been walking through downtown Chicago for an hour and a half. Walking through overstreet and underground passages, you see amazing things (an underground swimming pool? Korean BBQ? Maybe a... More

Had a great time on Margaret's Disaster Tour today. The fast moving tour of Chicago "disasters" from the turn of the 19th century to present kept us entertained as we wandered the Loop. Margaret's delivery was clever and witty, as she shared some historical low points in Windy City history. Looking forward to another one of her tours next time!

My husband and I took two walking tours. The first was the Pedway tour and absolutely loved it. The tour guide Margaret Hicks was knowledgable and made the tour fun. We learned a lot. We enjoyed it so much, we took the Disaster tour the next day and again had a great time. We highly recommend both tours.

This was a fun way to learn more about Chicago. Margaret was our tour guide, and she was not only knowledgeable, but she was personable, kind, engaging, and hilarious! I would recommend this for first-time Chicago visitors and even the seasoned Chicagoan!

Took a pedwat tour with Margaret recently and loved it. She is entertaining and fun in addtion to being very knowledgeable. We learned agreat deal laughed alot and now know some of the "secret passages" under the city. Margaret has a passion for the city and it shines through on her tour which is very refreshing. Highly recommend Margaret's tours!

My teenage son reckoned this the best thing we did in Chicago. It's about 90 minutes long and was one of the cheapest things we did in the states. Bargain!! The tour itself is interesting and gives you a different view of the city with lots of interesting facts. But it is Margaret who turns it from a 3.5 star... More

My family and I did this tour on April 11, 2013 just hours after we landed from a 9 hour red-eye flight. It was our first time to Chicago. We were jet-lagged and sleep deprived, but Margaret was so nice, enthusiastic, and funny that we forgot ourselves. She was very personable and really tried to engage the kids in a... More

We took the Pedway Tour with Margaret and she KNOWS the city, inside and out (and underground!). I've lived in Chicago for over 25 years and I have never heard of the interesting facts and places that Margaret showed us. She's funny too! She really knows what she's talking about and some of the things she showed us were just... More
