This is one of the best mountains for brand new skiers. We had a gal who had never skied before, and was very nervous about it. If you're a newbie skier or skiing with one, start at Dollar. Make this your training ground prior to hitting Bald Mountain. Dollar has good runs, even for decent skiers. Perfect place to start little kids and beginner skiers. Easy to transition later to more challenging nearby Bald Mountain. More

Excellent spot for first runs of the year to get warmed up for Bald Mountain and great place for beginners. Supreme facilities with a particularly nice day care and kids program at reasonable prices. More

this is a great place to learn to ski, with the green carpet, and lower lifts. the staff is great, and usually young, with lots of energy. this is where most of the ski instructors start on the mountain to teach skiing. all my friends have young children that start here. this is the first mountain in the area, and... Dollar Mountain is part of the Sun Valley Resort. It's treeless and from my reading, best for the newbies. It has a newer lodge: Carol's Dollar Mountain Lodge, but really nice.
