Before booking a rafting trip on the Salmon, check in with your outfitter of choice (I like White Otter) on the level of the water. How high the water is will make a huge difference in your experience. The higher the water level, the wilder the ride. Be sure to dress appropriately as being cold and wet on these trips... More

one of the great things about this river, is watching it grow. there is the spot where it comes out of the earth, the river of no return, at the bottom of galena summit. the trickle becomes this awe inspiring , huge river, at the base of the sawtooths. i have sat by it , floated it, and have become...
