So glad we read about this and made a side trip (about 4 hours) from a visit to Yellowstone. This experience is wonderful for all ages, and I guarantee you will come away with a new appreciation and renewed interest in the Oregon Trail.

I always feel bad giving tough reviews to small-town attractions. This was a stop for us between SLC and Jackson Hole, and as a big Oregon Trail fan and history reader I was pretty pumped. In our case, we were here off-season - so the guides, simulated trail ride, and much of the museum weren't available. Just the gallery and...

This great museum is fun for the whole family. They actually put you in a wagon train and "simulate" the pioneers trip on the Oregon trail. There is also a beautiful art exhibit and a nice gift shop. Many good photo ops right outside the doors. Right on the Hwy. on your way to the Tetons or Yellowstone. Very nice...

The staff is wonderful and the "simulated" wagon rides and campfire talks are exceedingly well done. The art work and displays are worth a visit in and of themselves.

We stayed at Montpelier as a way of breaking the drive from Jackson to Salt Lake City and were very surprised to find the National Oregon/California Trail Centre. Spent hours there and did the simulated wagon tour which was very enlightening as we knew very little about the Oregon Trail prior. Definately worth a vist!

My wife and I had the unique experience of following the wagon train route of my great grandmother who emigrated from Nebraska to Oregon in 1884 at the age of ten. One of her stops (and ours) was in Montpielier, Idaho and there we discovered the Oregon/California Trail Center. The center is both a museum and a living history interpretive...

If you don't know much about the Oregon Trail then this is the place to get some of the history of it. Nice litle museum with a short acted out history of what it was like to travel back in those days.

This small museum might be interesting for history buffs. We aren't so did it in fewer than 30 minutes. If you're visiting northern Bear Lake, it's worth a look. Nice restrooms for free. Small souvenir shop. Good stop on way to Yellowstone from the NW area.

We stopped at this museum as a break during a long day of driving. At first, we weren't sure if we wanted to pay the fee to enter, but we were glad we did. This museum presents the information in way that is so different from most museums. You get to actually go through the different steps of preparing for...

Wonderful museum. The tour guide was great. We felt like we were back on the wagon ride. We learned a lot about what the settlers packed for their journey and what the trip was like for them.. We had a timed ticket for the tour but it wasn't busy on the day that we were there. Upstairs there was a...
