It doesn't take long, but you'll be glad you stopped. Walls of coastal Georgia's Tabby material stand strong, although everything else is long-gone. Plaques around the ruins explain everything very well.

A must stop on a bike tour of Jekyll Island. The history and story of Mr. Horton is one of perseverance and determination. He started a prosperous life on Jekyll Island and would be proud of the progress I'm sure. The island is very historic and this stop is the very base of that history.

Shell of historic residence that provides a glimpse of the past. Nearby markers shared the history of the location and trails to explore the plantation property led from the site.

I really love history, so this site was right up my alley. It was interesting to read how this house was built. It also faces the marshes and you can watch the beautiful sunsets from this site.

we saw the ruins from the road it didn't seem like much but a concrete building with no roof. You can park or just look from the road. Nice color tho.

We came across this site while driving around the island loop and stopped for about 20 minutes. It was interesting to show the kids how walls were fortified with seashells and how sturdy construction can withstand weather and war. The house is a no-frills attraction with sufficient historical information provided. It's free and you onlyneed a few minutes.
