With more than 2,300 acres of contemplative space, the Monastery is less than an hour from Atlanta’s international airport. The new Monastic Heritage Center – a 17,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art museum – is educational, interactive and kid-friendly. There is also a bonsai garden, store and cafe. At the Abbey Gift Shop, which is the largest Christian bookstore in Georgia, visitors can purchase monk-made biscotti, fruitcake and fudge, all of which the monks sell in an effort to be self-sustaining and feed the local poor. You can also see the Norman Gothic architecture of the Abbey Church and take a quiet stroll along the lake, or spend time in prayer and meditation. « less

Very nice. I have walked the grounds and visited the gift store; ordered and shipped fudge and biscotti to several folks in California and Michigan. I also enjoyed a sandwich in their little shop. Wonderful place and the monks and staff a very kind. More

A feeling of peace and comfort is here. You can't help but be filled with the Holy Spirit. The store has a lot of interesting things, and the banzai are fascinating. More

This is a great place to go for comfort, quiet, and solace in greater Atlanta. There is a small lake and beautiful grounds. The sanctuary is starkly beautiful, featuring stained class made by the monks. there is a store which features a large collection of high quality religious articles, books, and some products made by the monks. There is a... More

The monastery is on the most beautiful grounds you have ever seen. I have been there a dozen times and all I do is pack a light picnic basket, blanket and a good book. By the church, are massive oak trees that people always sit by to do exactly what I do. Don't tell on me but I sneak a... More

The monastery has recently undergone a complete facelift of the public areas. The visitor center has brief video explaining the history of the Trappist monks. There is a coffee shop and gift shop. The monks are self sustaining and you can buy products from their bakery or bonsai tree from nursery. They also offer retreats and have a nice lake... More

A quite place to get in touch with the spirit! Beautiful grounds, a lovely chapel and the monks we met were very friendly. Their bonsai display was amazing and some very nice bonsais were for sale. The gift shop had many very nice monk made arts and crafts along with home made breads and fruit cakes that are delicious! More
