This is one of North GA's best State Parks. Beautiful location, lots of great hiking trails, plenty of picnic spots. Great family outing.

Another mystery tour landed us at fort mountain. It was definitely our kind of park. Plenty of trails with great views, picnic tables, campground, playground, and a lake.There's an old tower and a wall (whats left of it) the soldiers hid behind during one of the wars.

The camp sites here are set up nicely and there are playgrounds nearby for children. There is a lake for swimming when the weather is good. We were surprised to see a bear, the park ranger seemed very familiar with the bear and was on hand to manage the situation and warn guests who might have been too friendly.

Stopped here twice in the past month. Hiked the trails to the stone wall, towers, overlook and surrounding trails. They were working in picnic area, perhaps running water to one of the pavilions and painting bathrooms and some of the railings at cool springs overlook. I hadno expectations when I picked this hike and as I hit the peak for the opening my jaw dropped at the shear magnitude of the clouds, fog and mountain peaks. I did not want to leave because I felt like I was in an airplane high up without the airplane.
