I arrived early, too early and the gate was locked so I went down the street and enjoyed the sunrise on the lake and watched the steam roll off. In hindsight I should have jumped over the fence and walked around a bit. There is a small mound and one larger mound but the sight can't be bigger than 3... More

Went to this not expecting too much but maybe expecting more than I found. It is a big park, nice for picnics, with two mounds. One is large wooden steps and the other not too high. Picnic tables available. trails available. Take bug spray with you.

It is a place well worth the time. Lived in area for years and did not know it was there. Also went to many other state parks in and around n.Fl.

There are many Mound Builder cultural sites along the Mississippi River into Ohio, but Florida has several ancient sites near Tallahassee, it capital city. Lake Jackson (named for Andrew Jackson) are the largest with the most extensive research. Easy parking, a wonderful place for picnics, play touch foot ball, soccer and frisbie. i attended a sun rise wedding on the... More

This is a nice but rather small State Park. The hiking path is very scenic but short...about 20 minutes and can get very muddy. The mounds are just that....hills. You can see everything in 35 minutes. Great place for a picnic though or playing frisbee. I have nicknamed this "affair" state park as lots of people seem to arrive in... More

This is yet another scenic spot in Tallahassee -- the place is loaded with them. The mounds and surrounding grounds are what's left of a sizable town from the Southeastern Ceremonial Complex period. Great photo opportunities exist everywhere, especially in the late afternoon or early morning.

The mounds are there in their natural state. There are neither facilities nor amenities. This is good on the one hand, but we tourists are so used to bigger being better until it's a bit of a let down.

We loved visiting the Lake Jackson Mounds Archaeological State Park. It is truly magical. Adding to that perception was the fact that, on our way up to the first mound, my husband said, "Look down." I thought, "What kind of bug is on me that he wouldn't just come up and shoo it away immediately??" I looked down and there,... More

I think more history on the mounds should be provided but it's something to see and the trail is nice too. Also the wide open grassy area to play.

This park is nice if you want to play a game of Frisbee or your kids love a big place to run free. The mounds are pretty neat, especially knowing the way they were made. Other than that, it is pretty much just an open field.
