We thoroughly enjoyed Weedon Island. Our first stop was the wonderful Disney-like interpretive center. The center covers both the natural and archeological history of the island. Went kayaking here with some friends and it was gorgeous. I had no clue this place was here and I had driven by it so many times. Lots of people were just hanging out and fishing. Gorgeous place.

Children learn here without even knowing that they are. Just a few moments here and they are tell you about nature. There are some nice board walks with viewing of the Tampa Bay waters. Sometimes its hard to find a cool spot from the Summer Sun. Bring a hat!

I have kayaked the preserve several times. It's always a great trip. I prefer weekdays when there are fewer people on the water. Sometimes I have had the trail to myself all afternoon.
I usually see rays on the last leg of the trip.

This is an amazing experience!!! The paddling trail goes for about 4 miles through coastal islands and right through narrow passageways through Mangrove Swamps.
