We stopped by to tour the fort but were greeted by large crowds since the National Park Service had free admission during the Veteran's Day weekend. This place is truly a must see. A lot of history has taken place here. Don't forget the sunblock though. More

If there's only one thing you do in St. Augustine, it should be this. This is the heart of St. Augustine. You'll be so pleased with how much you learn about the history of the oldest city in the USA. Wonderful! Enjoy! More

The Castillo de San Marcos, an old Spanish Fort over 400 years old, is located in downtown St. Augustine on the waterfront. The fort is a great place to go with friends, family, and couples. It is run by the National Park Service and it happened to be National Park Week so we got in free, otherwise it is $7... More

The firing of the guns was very cool, would suggest calling the fort to see if they are shooting them off on the day you are going. More

We found it difficult to park around this facility. On the second expedition we were able to use public parking adjacent to the facility. This old fort is somewhat small, but it served it's function. General Oglethorpe from Georgia laid siege in the 1700's, but the British were repelled. The Ranger service provides an informative story and cannon demonstration. We... More

You cannot visit St. Augustine without visitng the Castillo de San Marcos! The site is interesting and informative for all ages. Since it is a National Park, you can keep the children busy with the Junior Ranger program and the cannon firings that happen throughout the day! At night you can visit around the Castillo's moat and enjoy the breeze... More
