Back to nature. Unimproved walkways thru a park right in the middle of town. Lush foliage, unusual plants + bugs and little critters. Probably not a good idea in the summer like season. Smaller than but similar to the nature preserves found in Palm Beach County. Try Green Cay preserve and Wakadahatchee and be impressed!

Fern Forest is just south of Atlantic Blvd. on Lyons Road, easy to pass by if you go too fast. It is worth a visit, just to see what the area may have looked like before all the development. It is the remnant of a lumber operation earlier in the last century. You can spot many native plant species, butterflies,... More

Almost 250 natural acres in the midst of South Florida sprawl. I took my 86 year old Mom, who's lived in Broward County for 33 years and never knew it existed. A beautiful approach down a long driveway lead to a walkway though lush greenery. Not a challenging trail system, flat, and a combination of boardwalk and land. Plenty of... More

We were a party of 4 adults when we visited this site in February 2013. Unfortunately, we were unable to stay very long and savor everything this Nature park had to offer since it was near to closing time. However, we were awed by this display case carrying an Indigo snake who had just killed a poor little white mouse... More

After reading reviews on TA, we decided to check out the Park. It was close by and gave us a perfect afternoon treat! The boardwalks are well marked and easy to navigate. There is plenty of shade and on the afternoon of our visit, a light breeze. The staff was informative and readily available to answer our queries. Another plus... More

This is great if you like an easy hike with boardwalks and trails that aren't too tough. I brought my six-year old girl and she did fine. We went during the dry season so the bugs weren't bad and it wasn't wet in too many places. Saw some great butterflies but not much else as far as wildlife goes. They... More

An excellent trail system and boardwalks plus a huge nature center. A must-see! Bring insect repellent in summer though.

I often drive by this park, but never stopped until recently. I was pleasantly surprised by the improvements. There is a very nice boardwalk to see the native area up close. It had been raining a lot when I visited and the paths that are not raised were quite wet. However, it is a natural area and I would expect... More
