We discovered this by mistake - It's a great pity it's not better advertised. Staffed by enthusiastic volunteers who willingly shared their knowledge. See the shell mounds and canal system developed by the Calusa centuries before Columbus. A great contrast to the newness of so much of Florida. More

This little trail is only about 7/10 of a mile long, but it was beautiful! And even reading the little signs about the Indians that used to live here was very educational. I would recommend bugspray, considering the great amout of Mosquitos. If you're in the area, it's a nice little place to visit, otherwise, it's just too small of... More
