Apply lots of bug spray and head out for a day in the woods... clean bathrooms and clear signage means you won't get lost! great for cycling and walking... check out the monthly stargazing oppportunity where locals bring their own telescopes and explain what you are seeing! lot's of fun and great date night for me and the hubby. I've combined the two for a 55-mile ride. The Starkey section is my favorite, through the native Florida flatlands. There's generally water provided along the way, but it's still a good idea... More

You won't believe you are just a few miles from "city" life. A well kept secret and great for just getting away from it all. Lots of places to sit and relax. More

Starkey park has to be one of the best parks in the state. It has miles and miles of trails that connect to the bike trail along the Suncoast Parkway which can take you south to Tampa or north to Crystal River. There are playgrounds, cabins, nature trails. I've seen deer and other wildlife there on many occasions. Pavilions are... More

If you are looking for a good running loop and you have to pay to get in, I would expect there are water stations. This park had two water stations along a 6.75 mile paved trail and NEITHER station had water when I ran. The park itself is pretty and nice to family parties, but that's about it. More
