We rented bikes and found our way to the fort and beach. The fort was cool and real interesting, we then went to the beach. Did not like could not compare to Mexico where we just came from.

This is a local favorite for the family with a well stocked picnic area and a secure area for the family. The beach however is full of shells and rocks. Make sure you wear beach shoes around the park.
The beach here is exactly what you are looking for & make sure you plan to have a picnic. Either bring your own or eat there.
We try to visit a different beach each time we are in the Keys. This time we selected Ft. Zachary Taylor since it had parking, showers, snack stand, chairs/umbrellas for rent and the fort. When we first entered the park, we opted to visit the fort. We were among only a handful of people and elected to do the self...

Everything is perfect here, our kids enjoyed snorkeling all day, we enjoyed relaxing in the sun on a very clean and well kept beach, thanks to all who keep it this way!
We went there for picnic and beach. I did not go in the water because it was so rocky that you couldn't walk on beach or into water without water shoes. BRING YOUR WATER SHOES! Other then that, the view is beautiful and it is an excellent location to view the sunset. The picnic areas are well shaded and with...

Fort Zach has awesome picnic tables, a sandy beach, pine trees and swimming. Bonus for the nice clean bathrooms and showers. It's a pleasure to come here and recoup from Duval hangovers.
Although there is a small fee to enter, this is a nice facility. It has large beaches (or what pass for beaches in the Keys), restrooms, showers, lots of parking, picnic tables, concessions for snorkel gear and food. I hate to admit it, but although there is the historic aspect of this park, I have never investigated that because I...

we come here often. Lots of people snorkel and fish. We grill and set up for the day with our friends. The fort is kinda cool, I plan to take my dad there, as it is historical. The beach is rocky so watch out but the water is warm and shallow with barely any current.
We truly enjoyed this park!
Great beach for swimming. The water was a little murky for snorkeling but it was still good. Worst part was trying to exit the water with the rough terrain.
Picnic tables are plentiful and we chose one over the $30 umbrella / beach chair option. Bathroom was clean and there's even an outdoor shower to...
