I will echo others comments. Very comfortable, intimate theater which makes you feel not only that you are watching the play, but that you are part of it. I also like that you can get drinks in the lobby and bring them back into the theater (you can't bring food in). The ushers do a great job. I've only seen... More

The theater is upstairs of the movie theater. The seating arrangement places the stage on the floor surrounded on 3 sides with comfortable seats in stadium style. We especially like the convenience of having drinks in the lobby AND be able to take them into the theater proper. Very civilized.

The theater space is very intimate. Not a bad seat in the house. A great perk is being able to bring your cocktail into the theater with you and enjoy while watching the play. The seats are comfortable. Best theater we've seen in the area. Always well executed. They also have a great little movie theater. It is surrounded by... More

Great shows in a comfortable theater with good site lines. We have seasons tickets and they are always good about changing dates if we need to do so.

Our first visit to a "Theatre in the round," we will come back. Enjoyed this "Off-beat" play a lot. The two actors had impectible timing, delivery was "spot on." Loved being close to the stage. Quite an experience for us.

The Hipp is located in downtown Gainesville and offers several indie/artsy movies at a time as well as a number of plays each season. I have enjoyed many movies here in their small theater, which allows you to bring in cocktails from the bar and snacks. The live theater stage is a bit larger with more seating but also intimate... My husband and I stepped in to look at the art in the lobby/gallery area. We'll be back soon to see a film!

I like the interaction between the actors and the audience. I like being able to see their faces and be part of the whole experience. It draws you into the story and allows you to feel like you are really part of it. I much prefer it to going to a movie or watching a video. However, it is expensive.... More

Really enjoyed Venus in Fur performance on the Mainstage this past weekend. If you like small, hometown feel type theater, this place is it! Not a bad seat in the house-- very intimate. We loved it and wished we lived closer so we could visit more often.
