Entrance was expensive for the size of the beach. To get into the water a person has to walk through very mushy mud. More

I am a frequent visitor to Old Saybrook's shoreline and I never go to Harvey's Beach. The few times I have it has been overly crowded with very little beach space. There also is a lot of sea grass in the water, which I am assuming is protected and cannot be cut, but it creates a small area to actually... More

Harvey's Beach is an excellent choice for families with small children. When it's low tide and you can walk out onto all the sandbars, there is nothing like it. I read an earlier review about the beach being small, and it is compared to others, but in my opinion that makes it better. I have never had a problem finding... More

Ugh. Seemed like a good idea, as it was equidistant for both parties (about an hour's drive). To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The "beach" was literally smaller than the local lakes I bring my children to. And the sand was dirty. Not to mention it was PACKED. The water felt dirty. I think because there was very... More

Ten dollars to park for a 4 foot strip of sand. Really, this "beach" can be walked from end to end in about 20 steps. You would be better off playing in a sandbox at the local park, if you want nice sand that is. Stay away. And for those who gave this place 5 stars you should be ashamed.... More

I remember seeing old home movies of my family going there before I was born. Being the youngest of 3 children, I've been going to this beach since I was 5 years old. or at least that's the earliest I can remember going. I love that the tide goes out so far and that you can play frisbee in the... More

I have been surprised to learn that everyone has suddenly discovered Harvey's Beach. Back some 35 years ago when I was a young teenager, and the eldest of four other siblings, my mother used to pile us all into the car many, many summer mornings with a packed lunch in a large cooler and beach accessories and make the half...
