The museum deals with niche in American Impressionism. Displays are well chosen. Fascinating connection to the art colony from the turn of the century. We were entertained, educated, and treated extremely well by all staff. Also very reasonable. More

Interesting exhibit on "Isms" that provided insight on the evolution of various styles of painting. The orientation movie set the scene & provided context to enjoy the art. Friendly staff. Beautiful grounds - no wonder the artists gathered to paint the environs. More

We visited Florence Griswold Museum for the first time yesterday. We had a great time. The new exhibit that recently opened there is called "isms". It highlights different movements in art. It is small - three rooms only, but educational and fun. We really enjoyed it! I loved the movie they show in a small auditorium - colorful and a... More

I've lived in Connecticut my whole life and somehow missed this jewel of a museum! I you enjoy American Impressionism, this is the place to go. The main house -- you can't miss the yellow paint and green trim -- has a few rooms set up as they would have been when this was a boarding house for artists. The... More

If you're in the area this is a cute museum to check out. Go during the nice weather when you can walk the grounds. The museum is on the lieutenant river and it is a beautiful setting! There is a small outdoor cafe to enjoy lunch outdoors. More

The museum is on beautiful grounds on the bank of the Lieutenant River. The gallery displayed a large collection of landscape paintings by American artists and provides an introductory video. The Griswold House was recently and beautifully renovated and provides an excellent perspective on the life of Florence Griswold and origins of her artist colony. It also contains many paintings,...
