We love to take the horse up here and go for a great ride with beautiful view! I also love to hike up here - all the trails are great and you can't beat the views!

I wouldn't recommend hiking here if you have breating or cardio problems - my GPS read 8700 elev. and the trails are arduous - but if you're healthy and love nature, go here. This is not exactly an area of towering peaks as most of the peaks have a rounded appearance. In addition, there are whole mountainsides of dead pines. However. around Mt. I have hiked 200 hundred miles of trails in Mt Zirkel and I am not even close to seeing everything there is to see. The vistas are spectacular as are all the alpine lakes. Camping and backpacking heaven.

A great natural landscape for hiking. Gold and Gilpin lakes on the west side of the Zirkels are favorites, so they get busy in the summer. If you want seclusion, enter from Big Creek Lakes north of Walden or take a hike to Lake Katherine East of Walden.

Peaks, waterfalls, not a lot of people, and the Zirkle circle a long hard one day hike. After RMNP (which I love) a treat to get some quiet.

A great place to hike, camp and fish. We also go x-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter - easy access off of Seed House road. It is particularly beautiful in the Fall when the aspens are turning.

The back country is great place for hiking and horse back riding. But the beetle blight has destroyed much of the beauty of the area.

The Zirkel Circle is one of the most beautiful hikes in Steamboat, with the trail being about 11 miles and taking 5-7 hours.
