Went with Greg at San Juan Jeep Tours, had an excellent trip and day. Greg took us places we could have never gotten to. The views and wildlife were spectacular!!!

Rented a Jeep for half a day and will never regret this adventure! Wonderful views and wildlife! A little scary at times when you meet vehicles going ramrod speed in your direction on skinny mountain roads but an adventure none the less!

One of the most beautiful places in the world. Great place to Jeep in the summer or ride sleds in the winter. Be careful there are not any rails on these roads.

Rented a Jeep and made it up to Yankee Boy Basin. Absolutely stunning place. I've lived in Colorado my entire life, and I've traveled a lot in the mountains, but this might be the most beautiful spot I've found.

Just plain beautiful. It does require 4wd to get high into the basin but worth it. Awesome cirque that has a great approach to climb Sneffles. I have skied it several times in the spring when they plow the road up to where you can skin your way in.

We drove up here for a look, and it was spectacular. The road is fairly hairy, so only go in a 4WD, but it is sooo worth it.

The dirt road can mostly be done in a car some higher clearance in areas or good tire placement is all that is needed and you can see most of it at about 9 miles up then it turns to 4x4 only there is an active mine as well as abandond ones.

During the summer, Yankee Boy Basin is beautiful, surrounded by majestic mountains. The downside is that everyone wants to take their jeep for a visit, making the trip to and from the basin a crowded, dusty experience. Plus, most of the jeepers don't really understand the driving rules necessary for passage in the mountains and can make the drive uncomfortable... More
