This museum was much more entertaining for our children than I anticipated. Our son (age 8) loves rocks, so he was enthralled with many of the exhibits. Leadville has a very interesting history, and this is the best place to go in town to get a big dose of it. Since Leadville offers a variety of athletic events throughout the... More

As the title says, its a fun place to visit and has very interesting info that is not only for local history but for mining in Colorado in general. Very much worth the time. More

I live a short distance away and never knew this gem was here. For anyone interested in geology, minerals or mining, this is a treasure trove of information and enjoyment. It is a large museum-allow 2 hours- filled with well designed and executed exbibits that will appeal to kids 8 to 88. The thousands of various minerals on display are... More

Great museum. Really gave lots of interesting info on the history of mining. Spent 2 - 3 hours here, longer than we expected. More

We arrived around 4:00 and the museum closes at 5:00 but we were assured that if we didn't finish the self-guided tour, we could come back and finish the next day. Lots of beautiful crystals, gems, rocks, etc. are just the icing on the cake. The museum flows from room to room and allows you to go at your own... More

Very interesting museum. Excellent exhibits of tools and processes, plus various artifacts. Walking thru the replicated mine was very interesting. A bonus was the antique car and some miniatures exhibits. Glad we went! Allow about an hour or a bit more. More

The museum had a lot more than what I had expected. I almost didn't go but I'm glad I did. One of the bathrooms I went in didnt have a door on the stall and the door to bathroom did not lock so I had to take a speed dump in fear that someone would come in and watch me... More

For $10 we bought a ticket to the Museum and the Matchless Mine tour. As someone else mentioned when you drive up to the Mine you almost turn around and leave, it's not much to look at. But the tour comes with a guide who gives the whole story of Mr. Tabor's rags to riches to rags saga, plus the... More

We didn't expect this museum to be as extensive and well-done as it is. It is a little confusing to navigate, but there are interesting things everywhere. There is extensive mining history, both of gold as well as more utilitarian minerals such as coal, lead, etc. The exhibits are not confined to U.S. mining; one of the most interesting was... More
