We paid $15 for adults and $5 for kids to take the 25 minute tour and pan for gold. Plus, due to the sign, we felt compelled to tip them. (Like another reviewer said, if you only work for tips, what are you doing with the $45 we just gave you?!) We found no gold, but you could see gold... More

We had our son's birthday party here and we had a very fun time, educational and enjoyable.  Even panned for gold! More

This was our first time to visit a gold mine. The tour was not very long, and had been mislead by the flyers that it is a "working gold mine". But our guide was interesting and had lots of tidbits for us. We were the only ones there. Disappointed to find out that you can't pan for gold in the... More

I was really disapointed that this was advertised on flyers (in print!) as a working mine and we paid $10 to tour it, when our guide very plainly admitted to us, when asked, that it is not. There were no "carts of ore" as promised and I felt I'd been cheated. Also, apparently you can not pan for gold during... More

We stopped here on our way back in to Denver with no expectations. We pulled up and the mine caretaker was hanging around outside and instantly invited our kids to grab a pan full of seeds and feed the local chipmunks. I took a few photos of them and then he offered to take our family photo - how nice!... More

We stopped at the Phoenix mine after reading reviews on trip advisor. Originally we were just going to pan for gold, but decided to take the tour, too. The tour is well worth it. Our 8 year old thought it was great. He loved learning about the history of the mine as well as seeing the minerals in the rock... More

We took my parents here who came from WA state. This was our first time here too! Our tour guide was very informative and at times comical. There were a lot of chipmunks outside eating seeds right from your hand, very beautiful sight! After, we got a short lesson on panning and went up the creek. I should note that... More

We spent 17 days in Colorado and NM and thought our perfect day was at the Phoenix mine. The tour was great (Thanks Arnold) and we didn't mind giving a tip to the wonderful guide -- he was worth it. The $15 per person for tour and panning for gold, including a lesson and the pan was reasonable and you... More

We went to the Phoenix Gold Mine in Idaho Springs and had a great time. The guide was very entertaining and made the trip through very fun. We learned some things we didn't know and really enjoyed ourselves. It wasn't the longest tour, but we liked that it didn't go down 1000 feet into the earth and that if our... More
