I wasn't able to walk much, my legs are full of arthritis and I saw some of the entrance area and sat while my family went in they really like it. More

the C S M is perhaps the premiere institution for geological and mining and nature-resource engineering in the region, and top-rated world wide. this facility reflects that, and you don't have to be a geologist nor science student to enjoy visiting here. More

No Hope diamonds or anything like that, just excellent displays of a very good selection of gems and minerals with an emphasis on those in Colorado. More

It may look small, but here it's the quality of the specimens, not the size. They've got world-class specimens that you'd expect to see at places like the Smithsonian. It's well laid out and informative. The smaller, floor cases could use some better lighting, but that's coming soon. More

This small, free museum is on the campus of the Colorado School of Mines. Parking will cost you a little but there is a lot right next to the building where you are allowed to park (be sure pay at the meter). The mineral collection is extensive and well organized. There are some hands-on areas that are great for kids... More

This a wonderful museum, the rocks and minerals rival that of any large-scale museum. The museum is free and hardly every busy, but be careful where you park, the college police like to give out tickets! I recommend parking north of the campus on the streets, just read the signs to make sure you can park there. More

If you love rocks you will LOVE this museum! What a wonderful collection of rocks from all over the world. My favorites were the six foot tall lava tube filled with amythest crystals, a petrified cross section of a large dinosaur bone (probably a femur) that looked like petrified wood with its rings all different colors, and rock from the... A friend of mine who is in the geological engineering program suggested a visit to this museum and we were pretty surprised at how cool this visit was. My favorite part was the mining history exhibit downstairs. There were also beautifully colored specimens everywhere. It was very informative. More

This has to be one of the best things I've ever done for free that was inside. What a great museum. They currently have 2 small exhibits undergoing renovation, but it is still a little overwhelming (LOTS to see). They have a great display for those of short attention span (kids in particular) of a video describing the geologic history... More
