Pretty steep hike for a sea-level person, but absolutely breath-taking when you get up there.

We loved this hike and took our two sons along but be aware that it is very crowded. The hike is somewhat steep, but our four year old was able to climb it with no problems.

(I'm an artist. I've seen some pretty spectacular places.) Hanging Lakes is Stunning. Shock & Awe. A Surprise! The setting, how it hangs in the canyon, the amazing trail. I couldn't look away. Worth every step. Do it! (actually C. 1990)

It was a strenuous hike in but well worth it! We went the first week of November. The water was the most beautiful color and there were benches around the little lake where you could just sit awhile and take in the beautiful setting with waterfalls. When you're at the lake, be sure to climb just a few steps more...

Best time to visit is in the spring during runoffs. Gorgeous views and easy access once you have climbed the 1 mile very steep and not very easy trail to the location of the lake.

Lots of trail work and construction in area last few times there. Just check ahead.

Trail is a bit difficult. Take a least a half liter of water for the round trip hike. Totally worth it!
