The views are amazing. The drive is scary. Drive slow. Parking can be tough, so go early. You will love it.

Lovely drive to nearly the top of the mountain, and then only couple of hundred meters til the top. We've seen people climbing it wearing flip flops, I would advise to actually get proper shoes before doing so. Rocks on the path and it can get quite slippery.

Folks you can read all the descriptions of this road that you want, but if you really want to know what the road looks like, see my video on YouTube. "Camaro mountain 'fire' run with Jimi" Then have fun. Drive focused.

We just got back from our drive on June 8th! Today there was no fee to get to the top. There are definitely lots of hairpin turns and NO GUARDRAILS, which makes it especially scary if you don't like heights. However, the view is definitely worth it all along the drive and especially at the top. Not only do you... More

Drove to the top of Mount Evans. Roads had just been cleared a few weeks prior. 7' banks of snow lined much of the upper part of the road. Mountain sheep stood in the middle of the road, licking the asphalt. We had to wait until they moved because we had a drop off on one side and snow bank... More

I really enjoyed our trip from Idaho Springs to the top. Others in our party did not enjoy it as much as they were too concerned about the edge of the road with no guard rail. The person driving up asked for me to drive down because they couldn't take it again. I didn't think it was that bad, but... More

Mt. Evans is a gorgeous drive (or hike if your fit) - You should definitely go! There's a reason its rated #1 and #2 of things to do in Denver (day trip ~ 45min drive). Some important information to know before you go: 1) The Address for your GPS: 2 Mount Evans Road, Idaho Springs, CO 80452 2) Dogs are... More

My first visit, I ran from the parking lot to the summit. I suddenly felt my age. The other thing is howler skilled you are at stalking, when you get close, realize just how big those moose are, It's better to keep clear. Stop on the way up. Echoe lake, the various vistas. The road is just amazing. Built just... More

We traveled to the summit on opening day and it was an amazing experience! Certain drivers do need to slow down a bit to make it safer for everyone else. Do not hestitate to make this trip!

Mt. Evans is the highest peak I've been on. I don't have the pleasure of living in a mountainous region and this was an absolute adventure. The view of the Rockies on the way to the summit are stunning. Watching the terrain change as you climb in altitude is fascinating. So many different natural wonders are observed during the trip....
