The Flatirons are the signpost to Boulder and their iconic shape is spellbinding. It is a magical view and should be seen by all.

Anyone visiting the Boulder area just needs to look up and to the West and they'll see this unique rock formation that looks like the bottom of irons, thus Flatirons. Just another great vista in Colorado.

Take advantage of the many trails in and around the Flatirons. One of the best trials leaves from the Chattaqua Park entrance. Breathtaking!

With plenty of snow falling, the Flatirons had a different look to what I experienced several years back. However, taking a drive up to the Flatirons was beautiful, and we enjoyed the easy access from Boulder. Great walking trails as well. Don't miss Boulder Falls when you have a moment, but it is more accessible during warmer weather!

Winter, summer or in between, the Flatirons are a wonderful spot for individuals, families or a walk with the dog. Boulder (and its people) does a great job maintaining this space. By all means, go! The image below was taken right after a spring blizzard.

Everywhere we turned in Boulder, we saw these beautiful formations. We ventured closer one morning. We hope to spend more time there on a return visit.

I thought about driving to Rocky Mountain National Park from Boulder, but this "gem" was right in front of me. There are a multitude of hikes in this area and chose to hike to the top of the Flatirons.

Drive along 93 to appreciate the beauty of the Flatirons, any season, any time of day, especially when shadows play on the formations.

There are paths of all intensities and the views are gorgeous - and it is basically right in town! The climbs to the top of one of the Flatirons are challenging, especially for those not used to altitude, but there are also easier trails at lower elevations, both in the woods and out in the open.
