It's fascinating watching the 1 1/2 mile long train climb up the incline, often the engines looping over the back of the train. The added benefit is its in fantastic setting. Well worth a visit More

It's crazy to watch the trains go up and around the hill in a slight upward circle. It is a engineering feat . Lots of little holes thru the mountains and it just curves up. Neat More

Nice little trip, worth a visit. Reasonably regular trains. If you drive up the hill there is a little plaque telling you about it. If you park on the left just before you get to this, there is a dirt track. Walk up here and you get some great views, although the fog came down when we were there and... More

Nice drive from town. There was a train but it was going towards Bakersfield so we didn't see it doing the loop. I guess if it is going down hill to can bypass the loop. More

Even if you're not a railfan or railroad buff, the Tehachapi Loop is quite an engineering accomplishment to behold. I was lucky enough to catch two trains in the loop on my last visit. Simply riding out to the loop and back from Tehachapi is enjoyable. A nice winding ride. More

Railfanning at its best. This is a spectacular view of very long freight trains as they loop around to make an altitude change. More

The Tehachapi Loop is an amazing feat of engineering, used to re-direct those long US freight trains. Well worth stopping to take a look - and there are plenty of photos and info in the Keene Cafe More
