This mile-long hike is pretty gentle and takes you up above Emerald Bay to an alpine lake with many good spots for picnics on rocks overlooking the water. We combined it with the equidistant hike down to the Viking House on the bay itself for a lovely half-day spent outdoors.

The trail and area surrounding the falls is easy and beautiful. In the spring, the falls are full and there is water everywhere. There is neat viewing on either side of Highway 89, and also Emerald Bay. The hike to the falls overlook is only about 15 minutes. If you want to go further, continue on to Eagle Lake which... More

We are not hikers, thought we would take a little walk to the falls. Very short hike up to the falls, beautiful views of emerald bay. Decided to keep going which was a little more challenging but well worth every step. Half way to Eagle Lake is a spectacular view of Emerald Bay and Lake Tahoe. We kept going and... More

Good amount of parking at this site. Easy hike up to the upper falls that has a little bridge that crosses over them. Our advice is to go over the bridge, past the falls. You can follow the trail up to an AMAZING vista point looking back to emerald bay and lake Tahoe. If you keep on following the trail... More

If you need the most well rounded hike in the area - this is it. This hike is for all visitors considering age and level of physical condition. There are limited number of "public" hikes off the road that give you great views for little effort. Eagle Falls gives a waterfall, Emerald Bay, and views of Lake Tahoe - a... More

I've hiked this in the fall, winter, and spring. It's well worth the extra 15 -20 mins longer to head to the lake. I may avoid it this summer due to the crowds however. ( or start early and hike further)

One of the best hikes/trails in Lake Tahoe for a ton of reasons: + incredible views - both of water features (waterfalls, lakes, Emerald Bay, and Lake Tahoe) + GREAT exercise (the trail to Eagle Lake...and Desolation Wilderness for that matter... is a rocketship, taking you straight up the mountain) + ample parking (it IS a popular place, so you... Hike to the middle portion of Eagle Falls on a very well maintained trail. It is an easy and short hike but parking can be a bit scarce. There is a parking lot at the trailhead and bathrooms (pit style), and parking is also available just past the area up the road (paid parking but isn't very much). Worth seeing... More

The hike is a little steep if you run as fast as the dogs are running up but if you take it easy it is beautiful & worth it. We had our kids & dogs with us & everybody just had a fun time. The trail gets a little confusing but once you figure it out it is pretty easy.... More

Well maintained trail up to Eagle Falls (and beyond to Eagle Lake). Near the Falls you can view down onto Emerald Bay and Lake Tahoe. Nice granite outcroppings and mountains along the trail. Moderate short hike to the Falls. Two mile round trip with about 500 foot elevation gain to Eagle Lake... lots of stone steps!
