Our first Champagne stop was the more traditional Domain Carneros. Our 2nd stop was Gloria Ferrer. While the Gloria Ferrer tour was inexpensive ($10), it was't all that impressive. I expected more from it (no tour of the actual cave, where the champagne was stored in its various stages etc). We saw the grounds and bottling facility but that was... More

This is a great first stop in Sonoma. Lovely patio with a nice view to enjoy a glass of bubbly. More

1. Don't go on a weekend-too busy 2. Enjoy the view, the seating outside, the spicy almonds and olives with your choice of champagne (or the pinot noir - also very good) 3. strike up a conversation- people from all over the world are there 4. the tour is OK, but nothing special- better to get a photo of you... I have been on many wine tours. This one was not worth the $10. They talked about the process and how the champagne and wines are made. We walked along the grounds and saw the production area. I expected to see the cellars, where the champagne is stored, how it's stored in the various stages, how it tastes before the... More

I'm a sparkling fan, so we felt obliged to visit Gloria Ferrer. Lots of buses and fanny packs. It was kind of a circus. Very beautiful scenery, and the tour was interesting (and a good value given the amount of wine that was included). We tried to have drinks on the patio, but our order never arrived and we became... Gloria Ferrer is the quintessential winery. The property is perched up on a hill, the views are incredible, and the main building is just perfect. Not to mention how delicious the sparkling wines are! We did a tour and it was fun and interesting and we enjoyed sparkling rose on the patio/balcony which was just stunning. I cannot wait to... We got there and the manager was supposed to be going on her lunch break. That didn't stop her for a second. We chose a glass of champagne each and sat out on the beautiful deck to enjoy it. More

Would have liked to have tried more than one sparkling wine, but they were only pouring by the glass. Nice place though. More

A bit out of the way if your staying in Napa, but this winery is not to be missed if you like sparkling wine and a view! Inside seating is nice, but the patio and views of the "north bay" are what is worth the visit..........and of course the world class sparkling wines! Can be crowded when weather is excellent....
