The price of the tasting is the reason why I gave Joseph Phelps 4 stars instead of 5. Yes, you get to try their flagship wine, Insignia, with the $30 tasting but the pours were small and I left not knowing anything about the winery. The tasting was casual where you could walk around between tasting each wine. The views... More

We did a tasting only. There was no sales pitch however we did not learn anything about the wines or the vineyards. It is gorgeous view. It would be nice at the end of a long day to sit there and enjoy the view. Maybe bring snacks. More

Of the 5 wineries we toured this was my favourite. The terrace tasting was indoors because of rain but the rooms were very pleasant. The wines were incredible and the staff was warm and welcoming. These are wines I will have no problem sussing out and paying the extra dollar for. More

Upon contemplating a trip to sample, study, and procure Napa wines, one of the tricks is to find one of the best wines available and at a vineyard that is willing to open its doors. Phelps has it all: beautiful vineyards in a postcard setting nestled up the side of the Napa hills, easy access from nearby St Helena, manicured... More

Very disappointing wine tasting. Very commercial. Pours were very small. With all of the wineries in Napa you are not missing anything here. I have been to over 25 wineries in Napa over the last several years and this would be at the bottom of my list. Although Insignia is one of the better wines in Napa, you can buy... More

This is one of the most elegant and hospitable wineries in Napa, famous for their wines and their history. Besides their various tastings they also conduct wonderful blending and educational seminars. More

I used to love this winery when I lived in SF in the early 90s. It has a beautiful view and I remember it having a nice tour. Times have changed. The view is still there but now the tastings are $30 and $60 for no education and approximately 3 tablespoons of wine. I'll definitely skip this one in the... More
