The price of the tasting is the reason why I gave Joseph Phelps 4 stars instead of 5. Yes, you get to try their flagship wine, Insignia, with the $30 tasting but the pours were small and I left not knowing anything about the winery. The tasting was casual where you could walk around between tasting each wine. The views...

We did a tasting only. There was no sales pitch however we did not learn anything about the wines or the vineyards. It is gorgeous view. It would be nice at the end of a long day to sit there and enjoy the view. Maybe bring snacks.

This is one of the most elegant and hospitable wineries in Napa, famous for their wines and their history. Besides their various tastings they also conduct wonderful blending and educational seminars.

This was the first of 17 places we "tasted" while in the Valley. It set quite the high bar

I used to love this winery when I lived in SF in the early 90s. It has a beautiful view and I remember it having a nice tour. Times have changed. The view is still there but now the tastings are $30 and $60 for no education and approximately 3 tablespoons of wine. I'll definitely skip this one in the...
