Hopefully some Foundation will step in and keep it open. An excellent tour of the mansion is provided with the admission price. The tour guide was very knowledgeable of the history of the... More

Provides an interesting view of the life of Sacramento's privileged classes during the era 1880 - 1920. A beautiful old home, though many rooms are largely empty of furnishings. More

Ever wonder what the railroad barons in California did with their millions? Look no farther than the Leland Stanford Mansion in Sacramento. Just a few steps from the capitol, this Victorian house beautifully displays how the wealthy class lived in the late 1800's. The mansion has been skillfully restored and is fully furnished with lovely antiques, many of them original... More

Street parking was easy.Tour is good value at $5 for those over 5 yrs of age(free for younger kids). Tour was a little over one hour and led by a knowledgeable State Employee. He answered all questions and had a sense of humor(always a plus). Some of California's mansions are mansions only when compared to neighboring homes of their time,... More

The mansion tour is very informative. You need to go soon because it will close due to the state budget cuts. More

The guided tour was excellent and we were impressed. The idea that the whole house was literally raised one story up - it was... More
