my family enjoys visiting every time, it is unique and clean. we visit year round, in the winter the areas to play in the snow are ample and in the other seasons there is so much to do. The hiking trails are very interesting.
It is quite a bit colder up there. take gear to hike in snow. Lots of fun, bird watching, snow ball fighting, picture taking, ... There is a bar and restaurant on top - OK. Great view!!! Make reservations ahead of time.
This is an experience not to be missed. Take the Aerial Tramway (which is really a sophisticated cable car) to Mt San Jacinto State Park. The tram ride is amazing and the temperature drops 20°C on climb to 8500ft.
Up there you can smell the pine scent in the crisp alpine air. Take the nature walk guided tour (free) with...

If you like nature, and a bird's eye view, you have to take a half day up here on the mountain. A magical pine forest with bark that smells like butterscotch.....cool rocks, chirping grey squirrels, spongy meadows, and great views of the valley floor. I only wish we had brought a picnic and found a secluded spot to enjoy it!
Loved it here, an alpine wilderness, which is quite inviting after 93 degree heat. Make sure you are equipped for the walks and have plenty of water and a good camera. Pick up a leaflet $6 from the rangers office and see what wildlife you come across. We spotted a 'skink', a type of lizard with an electric blue tail...
