you know that feeling you get, when you have done something the first time, and you know, you will never do it again, and its just outside you're comfort zone, and its very sensory and you really can't describe in words how you feel or find words that could explain the experience. Well, that is how I feel about the... More

Our first time, very nice canyons with easy climbing. When we got back to the parking lot, one of the other cars (big SUV) had its driver's side window shattered and all money, phone etc stolen from it - sad way to end such a beautiful hike. DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN YOUR CAR!

The hike here is absolutey amazing, however there are THIEVES in the area and we just had our Yukon broken into today. There was nothing in site to give them any reason to break in. Unfortunately my husband and I both put our wallets in the console and thats the only place they took something from. Its almost like they... More

It's a great place to hike if you want to challenge yourself, the ladders aren't as scary as they sound, just make sure that you have a partner in case you need a little "boost" or lift. I am glad I did it, it gets hot there so early morning is the best.

Where to start......well that would be the worst part of this adventure, getting to Mecca. The Painted Canyon is 20 minutes outside of Mecca and directions can be easily obtained from google or tourism office.. The walk is approx. 2 hours round trip, it is any easy walk/climb and both coming and going are fantastic, mother nature at her best..... More

Enjoyed the hike. Trail to ladders is difficult to find. We went late morning and it started to get very warm. Would advise an early start on warm days. Dirt road in is a bit rough.

I came to do a little sightseeing and had plenty of sights to see. I did not print a map of trails and paid the price.. To get some different views I climbed up one of the peaks and walked some ridges before climbing down. I thought I was on a trail because I saw some footprints. Then all I... More

Amazing area - great views of the Sultan Sea. Definately stop on the way for Date Shakes. Some of the ladders were intense but the work is worth it

Slot canyon easy hiking, then opportunities to make the hike really interesting with lots of vertical adventure up the ladders into side canyons and routes. Spectacular geology and color in the swirling rock patterns
