The wines here were pretty good, but the "tasting" experience was sub-par (quite busy, and little description of what you were tasting was provided). The scenery is certainly beautiful, however, so that in and of itself is worth the visit.

I had to think about whether to give this one 3 or 4 stars, so here's what got it four...
Wine: 4 stars. It's good, but certainly not great, and reasonably priced. Again, totally subjective.
Grounds: 5 stars. The grounds are beautiful and offer many opportunities for "kodak moments."
Tasting: 2 stars. We felt like we were at a bar....

This winery was recommended by friends before I visited Napa and it did not disappoint.

I only did a tasting at Trefethen. (The tour didn't fit into our itinerary.) The wines were great and the staff were very friendly and fun, not too serious. The only down side is that the tasting fee is not waived with a minimum purchase. While this isn't a big deal, I appreciate wineries who waive the fee.

Great family vineyard and a fun-loving environment!

Trefethen was our first stop on our tour of California's wine country. We had high expectations because we've enjoyed their wines (and still do). The grounds were gorgeous - loved the entrance and long drive to the tasting room. The wines were lovely as usual. The only down side was the guy pouring our wine. He was informative, pleasant, but...

This was the first tour that took us into the vineyard....literally. Michael spent a lot of time explaining care of the vines, etc. I loved it! He was in no hurry, and neither were we. After the lengthy tour we sat in a beautiful tasting room at a long table. He gave us an extensive list of wines and said...

The vineyard is lovely and the wines we tasted are excellent. The staff is very knowledgeable. They have lime trees in the yard! That was a wonderful day. Thanks, good people. I still have the wine list they gave us for the tasting that day (Im suck a dork).

Trefethen was near our hotel and recommended by our hotel manager. We arrived about an hour before closing and we were treated like Royalty! We had an amazing tasting! Our Pourer was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions about wine making and grape harvesting. He went above and beyond and brought fresh grapes out for us even in...

I was introduced to Trefethen by Sarah through Napa Valley Wine Guides. Trefethen is a hidden gem which seemed tucked away from the crowds. The wineries building was designated a national historic landmark. Trefethen seemed to have to the wine tasting process nailed. You have to pay a cover charge “wine tasting fee” at the door before evening entering the...
