Many county museums are just rooms full of old stuff. This one is well-curated and tells a great story. Each room has a theme. Three rooms are dedicated to changing exhibits. More info at www.mercedmuseum.org Like most volunteer-staffed museums, hours are limited so check first. More

Traveling down Hwy 99 you can see the Courthouse, it's the tallest building in the City. (For now, a new hotel is going up a block away that may take over the title.) There's plenty of parking around the county courthouse park, which has a very simple and touching War Memorial. The park itself is a great spot to let... More
