When I visit a new place I love to find out some history about the area that I am visiting. The Ford House was very close to the MacCallum Inn so we walked over to it and enjoyed learning about Mendicino's history.
This small museum has models and artifacts from the times when Mendocino loggers shipped their logs down the cliffside via chutes--dangerous to the nth degree. Volunteers are happy and eager to explain everything on site.
Gives a great history of Mendocino. A charming house and property to enjoy, and the history is just enough.
This state park building is filled with the history of Mendocino, and ought to be your first stop during a visit (unless you're only there for the shopping).

Best thing is the village diorama depicting life in old Mendocino and its logging history. Not many displays or artifacts.
