This is a visitor's center, an historic home and a museum tucked into one place definitely worth a visit. We were given a helpful map and useful information from a friendly guide.

Particularly liked the videos in the theater. Caretaker gave us the choice of what we would like to see.

The story of the house and its occupants gives you a feeling for how things were in the "old days." They have a model of the town from the 18th century that is very interesting. When we were there they gave a talk about the whales in the area, then conducted a walk out to the ocean to look for... More

When I visit a new place I love to find out some history about the area that I am visiting. The Ford House was very close to the MacCallum Inn so we walked over to it and enjoyed learning about Mendicino's history.

This small museum has models and artifacts from the times when Mendocino loggers shipped their logs down the cliffside via chutes--dangerous to the nth degree. Volunteers are happy and eager to explain everything on site.

Gives a great history of Mendocino. A charming house and property to enjoy, and the history is just enough.

This state park building is filled with the history of Mendocino, and ought to be your first stop during a visit (unless you're only there for the shopping).

It's always fun to learn special information about the places you are visiting. Every city has a story and the Ford House Museum was no exception. Very friendly docent, too!

From the moment we arrived, my boyfriend and I were welcomed by a friendly volunteer who showed us around and shared the history of the home and the immediate area. She then left us to our own devices to browse around and let us know that if we needed help, she was there. This old home has been turned into... More

Best thing is the village diorama depicting life in old Mendocino and its logging history. Not many displays or artifacts.
