Wear a fleece and some long pants, it gets a bit windy/chilly out here, but the waves crashing on the rocks are just beautiful and never get old. Very romantic. More

The Campground - Fills quickly. If you plan on visiting here, make sure to make an online reservation. The campground is clean. There is not really any difficulty with getting trailers, motorhomes and campers in here. The grounds are divided into two section. The lower area which is closer to the ocean and the upper loop. You cannot see the... More

Camped in tents here for two nights in site 071. The site was close to the bathrooms and showers, but not too close to have to see them when you looked out at your surroundings. When I arrived there were about 6 deer in the meadow and later were greeted with about 15 red-breasted robins who kind of raided my... More

We took a 5 mile hike in the pouring rain and loved it. Lovely, smooth trail by the river would be great for hike or a morning jog. Redwoods and ferns line the canyon. We noticed some nice camp sites as well. More

Went on a short hike through the Canyon and the Pygmy forest. Saw mountain lion prints, enormous gorgeous trees, and really enjoyed the park. Will definitely return for a longer hike! More

Van Damme has one of the best group camp sites around and a beautiful, well-maintained trail from the shore along a pretty creek and up through the tall trees to the Pygmy Forest. If you're on foot and just want a short stroll, you can park at the beach and walk in without charge. This is a prime dive spot... More

We walked on the hiking trail and it was like a fern/rainforest. A bit chilly (little sunshine gets thru) but stunning redwoods, ferns, and a creek. Worth the walk! More
