The library is worth seeing! We walked around and enjoyed the sculptures. What a big campus, get a map.
I brought my son here for a visit and was quite impressed. The campus takes advantage of the gorgeous San Diego weather. There is an open air food court that provides a great place to have lunch outdoors. There are also some small wooded areas that provide a good place for a relaxing stroll. I may be a little prejudiced since my son attends this University and he gave us a private tour of the campus. We really enjoyed it, the Geisel library is a remarkable architectural structure. The campus has a number of sculptures throughout, but my younger children were most fascinated by the little house "stuck" at an angle on the top... More
Drove in for a weekend didactic course and discovered this beautiful gem of campus. Scenic nature mixed with a gentle grandeur of techs. Worth looking at on subsequent visit. A must for anyone coming in to San Diego for a tour.
This campus has some of the ugliest structures ever made (Mandeville Auditorium and the classrooms behind it is a streaked gray, concrete monstrosity. But the inverted concrete pyramid of the library is magnificent. My visitors like seeing it inside and out. They also like the area around the Student Union where you will find a terrific bookstore and admirable sculptures.
I always pass through and see the improvements. I pray for all the students and hope that they all keep up with the buddy system. Stay safe. This school has come a long way and are doing great things.
Walk around the campus amongst the eucaliptus trees and modern buildings. When you get on campus ask at a gate for a map of the outdoor sculptures and be sure to see the main library (named after Dr. Seus). An upside down glass pyramid, it is great site (and sight). Go inside--usually they have an interesting exhibit.
The UCSD campus offers a little bit for everyone. Interested in Art? Check out the Stuart Art Collection with different pieces spread all over campus. Love a good pub crawl, well start off at the loft, adds a few stops for saki then beers, then head up to home plate to finish off at the on campus sports bar. Athletics... More
