It is always nice this time of year to have a hike where you can end up in the snow, but you need to be ready for it with good traction shoes and light but water resistant pants.

This has to be one of my favorite areas to hike, period. There is a hiking trail for everyone from ability, to view to time. I have done two trails so far but find the Deer Springs Trail to be my favorite thus far. It eventually leads to Suicide Rick with some stunning views. I just recentrly did the Devil's... More

We had not been up to San Jacinto State Park (part of the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument) for several decades, but decided to see it again. After a beautiful Tram Ride up, we walked to the State Park Ranger Station (no fee needed), registered to hike into the Wilderness and took off. Now in late March... More

My family has been spending Thanksgiving in Idyllwild for as long as I can remember. We make it a habit of spending a few mornings hiking the trails of the state park. Gorgeous views, fresh air, and beautiful scenery.

My friend and I were staying in Palm Springs for a few days. By chance we heard about the San Jacinto park and the beautiful drive up there. We only made it as far as Idyllwild. What a great little town. The people were very friendly, and the best part was that we got to meet and shake the paw... More

The park staff is the best. Very helpful and does all they can to help and give accurate information. The wilderness itself is by far the most scenic in So. Cal. Easy access from the Idyllwild side or take the Palm Springs areial tramway from the desert side. Either way, very serene and relaxing.
