For a reasonable price you get to choo-choo through the pine forests. If you have kids it's pretty much a must do. We don't have kids yet and still throughly enjoyed ourselves on a warm day. Still puts a smile on my face!

Learned about Steam Engines & loggers on this tour. One can ride in the open on log seats or covered with probably more comfortable seating. I like the log seats. Employees at the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad were friendly. The museum wasn't quite what I was expecting; go to the back & side wall to view museum items.

The Sugar Pine railroad offers the nostalgic joy of riding behind a Shay steam locomotive with all its huffing and puffing. Only problem is that the two steam locomotives run only occasionally, otherwise you ride aboard old Model A cars which aren't as much fun. Its two miles of reconstructed narrow guage logging track goes through lovely ponderosa forests. Call...

"Miner Mike" was extremely good with children young and old and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. $10 pp but great entertainment and educational--we did not ride the train but did enjoy the old time store and panning for gold.

On the way back from our Wedding in Reno, my new husband and I, along with two of my friends stopped to visit Yosemite. We stopped just outside of the park and took a tour on the Sugar Pine Railroad. The scenery was beautiful, the guide was knowledgible and the trip was a lot of fun for all of us!

This old locomotive ride will appeal to rail road buffs and kids of all ages...however since it belches out large bilious clouds of black smoke that fills the beautiful countryside with nasty stuff, it is better to avoid this one and seek more environmentally friendly alternative experiences.

We went in the early season when there was still snow on the ground and shortly after we left it started to rain lightly. We were in an outside car and still enjoyed it. How can you not like a steam train? The train winds its way through a forest and is very pleasant. If your expecting some kind of...

I rode the Sugar Pine Railroad when my family did a road trip in the 80s!. Being from Hawaii, I remember enjoying the smell of pine and the "Christmas tree" forest. I recently took my children (ages 6 & 10) to ride the railroad and it was just as great as I remembered. Early October was dry and sunny -...

We loved the Sugar Pine Railroad! We were there on a very chilly wet day but who cared...the ride on the train was great. We are from Ohio so we took lots of pictures of the train which was manufactured in Ohio. Everyone at Sugar Pine was so nice. The conductor and engineer must have had their pictures taken a...
