I enjoy that beach for the beautiful view across to Point Lobos as well as the lagoon which forms at the river mouth in the spring and lasts until the winter storms bring enough rain for the river to keep it open. The lagoon is a great bird sanctuary. Watch for the rip tides tough, the beach is pretty steep.

The beach at Carmel River is beautiful. You can do a lot of bird watching and that is a fun thing to do. During the right time of year, you can see whales migrating off the coastline pretty close by.
The Carmel River Beach, depending on the season, can have a great expanse of sand, and has a wonderful lagoon - perfect for bird watching. The beach itself, with its white sand is often littered with driftwood. The water is cold and, like many beaches in this area, has a strong undertow. There are rocks at the western end where...

This is easy access from the scenic road and has a lovely white sand beach. Like the whole Carmel area, the water is not for swimming but provides a gorgeous place to picnic, walk, and enjoy the Pacific.
