This was a real diamond in the rough, especially if you are into history of the area that you are visiting. Leo Carrillo was Pancho in the Cisco Kid serials back in the day. But he was so much more - huge landowner, humanitarian, host to the biggest Hollywood stars, ecologist. Go to this place and learn about this man... More

Although we have visited Carlsbad many times, we never went the ranch before and it was quite a pleasant surprise. Wonderful grounds and learned a lot of history I never knew. Loved it!

As you drive to this historic ranch from the flower fields, you may wonder if you're headed in the right direction. Once past the residential neighborhood, turn in what looks like a traffic circle (across swim center) and park in the dirt lot. Admission is free and be sure to take a map. On weekdays, tours are self-guided, grounds quiet,... More

Leo Carrillo is a nice place to check out for an hour or so. You can walk the grounds and tour all of the old buildings. The views are very nice and the grounds well maintained. The ranch is a nice place to attend an event, and the peacocks live there year round and are really cool to see and... More

What a great place to visit, there are so many peacocks wandering around to delight the children. So much history for the history buffs and so many great shots for the photographer. You can also get married here.

We love to take our friends to see this historic site. The genuine feeling of being in the era is a wonderful experience. One gentleman in our party was 90 years old and they treated him like gold, taking him by cart and coming back for him at a designated time. They have done a lot to Improve it over... More

I heard about this place from a friend on Facebook and thought we would give it a try as my husband is healing from back surgery and walking is good therapy. It was only an hour and 20 minutes from home so it was perfect. This was a very nice place to visit and is kept up very well with... More

We went on a Saturday afternoon. The buildings were closed during our visit; however, they offer free tours of the grounds. to include the buildings, which made our visit much more worthwhile. So, be sure to check the website for tour schedules. We easily spent the better part of a couple hours. One thing to keep in mind: there are... More

Little did I realize that I would be at Leo Carrillo's home someday as I watched him play the part of "Pancho," on The Cisco Kid. The State of California is doing a great job keeping the ranch and grounds in good shape. We enjoy visiting historic sites because you never know when they will disappear due to lack of... More
