We recently went mining at the Ron Coleman mine at the end of March. It was really hot, even for spring, but we pretty much had the mine to ourselves, so its a good time to go. It is a little confusing though because the crystal shop right off of 7 is not a part of the Ron Coleman mine,... More

My visit started at the crystal shop down the street from the mine. The lady there was pretty rude. Maybe she was having a bad day, but it really seemed like she wanted to be anywhere but there at that shop! I nearly gave up on Coleman Mine and went else where. This is the main reason I gave it... My Wife and I found the Ron Coleman Mine to be of very low quality. Their Mine Trailing’s Area consisted of huge mounds of mine waste that delivered hard digging and no crystals. We spent a lot of time climbing and digging with no results. We left Coleman’s with a couple of pieces of Quartz and nothing else for all... More

One thing about it, we have seen for a fact that very large, clear crystals are still dug in this mine. Definitely helps to go with a group of ten or more and. Arrange for your own private group tailings. Rates are higher here than at Miller Mountain and most other local mines, but the crystals we found (or who... More

I was there on 21st through the 25th and we did not yeild nothing. Ron Coleman refuses to bring up fresh dirt to the tailing mine. It has been over three weeks without fresh dirt. Don't waste your time there. The campgound is great if you can get a site. It's over runned with people staying there permanent; leaving the... More

All I can say is people who say they didn't find anything must not have been looking! All I did was walk back and forth (in the old dirt NOT the new piles) and look for things that were glittery. Then I would dig it up and it would be a chunk of crystal. I probably found close to 50... More

Went here because of all the solid reviews and we struck out. Fifty dollars for three of us to drive down and look through trash ridden tailings that must have been weeks old. Maybe all the good stuff was on top and had picked over??? The lady at the store was super nice and it is a pretty rock shop/store... More

We had a lot of fun here. My 12 year old got a little bored after several hours though. The adults all had fun. It was $20 each per adult and $5 per child. They give you each a large bag to put what you find in, you can buy additional bags for $.50 each. They brought in three new... More

I make it a point to take my family at least once a year to dig at the Ron Coleman Crystal Mine! We always come out with tons of beautiful, clear crystals and it makes for a wonderful story to tell friends at school. We pack a lunch and an ice chest and make a day out of it! The... More

We visited the mine in May 2009 - I had heard of this mine from friends who had visited and even though the weather cut short our "dig", the two hours we spent going through the piles was great fun - the best time any adult can have digging in the dirt. A few hints - wear old clothes and... More
