We really loved to explore the surroundings of the old Islandic "Allting" at Thingvellir. The nature and the great fissures was impressing. Worth a visit!

A crack in the path down to the site of the original Athling restricts the visit to peering over the edge of the continental divide into the valley below which is quite disappointing. Hopefully the crack will be bridged before the summer.

This place is crazy. We drove here from Geysir, and just ouside of that, it was white out snow as far as the eye can see, then you drive into the park full of birch trees. All the exposed fault lines are really cool to hike around on. Definitely check out Oxafoss

For all it is a great tourist attraction, the road layout and car parking is very well done, so it never seems busy. The scenery is amazing, and very changeable. Don't miss it.

Situated less than an hours drive from Reykjavik, and a natural rift valley, this is the site of the world's oldest Parliament, which was inaugerated in the year 974 AD. The first time I viisted this site in 1984, was with a...
